This is “A week free from violence” - an opportunity to stand up against violence and for safety. At RFSL Stockholm we work for a society where LGBTI people can live freely and without fear. During the week, our expert social worker and sexologist Suzann Larsdotter, who leads our violence prevention project Prata om Det, has been actively working to strengthen the conversation about violence in several forums:
🔸 Järva free from violence (organized by the City of Stockholm): Suzann highlighted insights on how minority stress affects LGBTI people, as well as how power structures such as age, ethnicity and functionality can affect communication around consent. She also highlighted the differences and similarities when it comes to sexual violence between LGBTI people and straight and cis people.
🔸 Sollentuna Kvinnojour: Here the focus was on the issue of differences and similarities in terms of sexual violence, with particular regard to the experiences and challenges faced by LGBTI people compared to straight and cis people.
🔸 A collaboration meeting organized by the Swedish Gender Equality Agency: Here Suzann represented us in discussions about violence prevention and shared insights from our project Talk about It.
Talk About It is a project that breaks the silence around sexual violence and creates space for conversation, support and change. Through podcasts, trainings and preventive discussion groups, we give people tools to deal with difficult issues and counter violence.

A week free from violence takes place every November and highlights the importance of prevention work against men's and boys' violence. The initiative is run by Unizon and the organization MÄN with the support of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) and the Swedish Gender Equality Agency.
