Gift policy
RFSL Stockholm is a non-profit organization that is dependent on grants, subsidies and compensation to finance its activities. Donations to RFSL Stockholm's activities and its member groups are an important part of the organization's finances and we see them as an expression that many people appreciate and support our important work. The association's activities are conducted for the benefit of work where everyone - regardless of sexual orientation, sexuality, gender identity and gender expression - is recognized the same rights and opportunities.
Management of gifts in the organization
A gift to RFSL Stockholm is usually money but can also be equipment, materials, clothes or food etc.
All gifts to the association or its member groups are handled in the association's joint accounts. The association freely disposes of the funds received as gifts, which means that the donor's money can be used where it is most needed and most useful at any given time. This means that gifts received are managed centrally in the Association's finances and each area of activity can then apply for funds from the Gift Fund for specific purposes. Each area of activity can then apply for funds for specific purposes, which are approved by the board and the head of activity.
If the donor has strong wishes about how the gift should be used, this must be specifically agreed with the association.
RFSL Stockholm shall appropriately thank donors for gifts received. The focus should be on cost-effectiveness but also on the donor's need to receive confirmation that the organization has received the gift. In cases where the cost is estimated to be large in relation to the gift, the donor is not thanked personally. The donor can also be thanked collectively via digital channels available to the association.
Identity of the donor
A donor can be a natural or legal person. Donor gifts are voluntary and can be terminated at any time. They are based on the donor's commitment to LGBT rights and opportunities.
The identity of the donor must always be known to RFSL Stockholm. Documentation of the donor's identity is handled in the organization's joint accounts. The association shall not pass on the donor's name to another organization or company.
If a donor wishes to remain anonymous, this should be respected. The donor's name should never be published without the donor's consent. Similarly, if a donor does not wish to be contacted, the association shall respect this.
Refusal of a gift
RFSL Stockholm has the possibility to refuse a gift if there is a strong suspicion that the donor's values or activities are contrary to the association's values and if there is a suspicion that the origin of the gift is associated with inappropriateness.
The association can also refuse a gift if it is subject to specific conditions, which the association cannot fulfill or if the costs of receiving the gift are not proportionate to the gift itself.
Other reasons for refusal may be that the gift has undesirable consequences or if it consists of goods, services, buildings, etc. that the association cannot use or dispose of.
Duration of the gift policy and person responsible
This policy is valid from the date of the decision until further notice, and is revised as necessary.
Responsible for the gift policy is the RFSL Stockholm Board.
