RFSL Stockholm warmly congratulates our president Lovise Brade who has been elected as the new president of RFSL during the current RFSL congress.
Lovise has extensive experience from both the RFSL Board and as chairman of the RFSL Stockholm Board and works as a teacher and researcher in gender studies.
“Of course, it is a great honor to be elected President and I am very excited to be a bigger part of the work for our rights on a national and international level, but I still have some mixed feelings because I have been so happy and proud to be part of RFSL Stockholm and all we do for our local community.” says Lovise Brade.
Now that Lovise is moving on to the position of President of the Federation, Jennie Graflund will be President of RFSL Stockholm until the annual meeting.
Through her role as vice president, Jennie is well acquainted with both the association's activities and the needs of its members. She has a background as an organizer and activist in several different queer contexts and is educated in gender studies and theater studies. Jennie has long worked in higher education and business development and currently works as an administrative director of studies at the Department of Special Education at Stockholm University.
During the past year, Jennie has been a driving force in RFSL Stockholm's work to promote queer culture. She has a strong focus on visibility, participation and justice and wants to continue to develop the association as a place for community, security and influence.
“I feel excited about this assignment. RFSL Stockholm is a strong and important voice for LGBTI people in the region. We are heading into an election campaign where I see a great need to continue to highlight the need for safe, inclusive and fair contexts for our community. I look forward to developing this work together with all the fantastic members, volunteers and staff”, says Jennie Graflund.
RFSL Stockholm would like to thank Lovise for her great commitment and leadership and at the same time warmly welcome Jennie in her new role as chairperson.
The Congress is RFSL's highest decision-making body, which every two years brings together representatives from branches across the country. RFSL Stockholm's delegation appreciated the exchange of experiences during the congress, which clearly showed how we can strengthen each other and drive the work for LGBTI rights forward.
