In 2021, the project Glitterra med gråa hår: stärkt psykisk hälsa hos äldre Lbtqi-personer, funded by the Public Health Agency of Sweden, was conducted within RFSL Stockholm. This resulted, among other things, in the publication “Queer elderly care? Meeting older LGBTQ people in health and social care.”
The publication is aimed at anyone who meets older people in their work. It provides knowledge about the history of LGBTQ and an insight into how elderly care is organized. It also provides an overview of the state of research on LGBTQ ageing, including health, social networks, dementia and sexuality. You will also meet the voices of different people who share their experiences of elderly care and ageing as an LGBTQ person. At the end, there are more practical tips and discussion questions that can be used as a basis for discussion.
