Finally, we can announce that RFSL Förbundet and RFSL Stockholm have been granted funding from the Swedish Inheritance Fund for a project on norms linked to disability, LGBTQ and rights. We will start in June to get started with full force on September 1st and will last for three years.
The background to the project is the feasibility study Funkisrapporten ”och aldrig mötas de två” ("And never the twain shall meet") published by RFSL Stockholm in 2013, as well as studies and experiences of how norms are expressed in various LSS activities.
RFSL collaborates with a variety of disability organizations, LSS activities and activists. The project consists of several different parts, the main focus will be on educational efforts and, by extension, social meeting places.
The training component will consist of four different actions
Three different External training actions focusing on three different target groups:
- Norms and rights related to LGBTQ and disabilities, aimed at LSS staff.
- Disability organizations' office staff and members.
- People who are in daily activities.
The various training measures will be developed by reference groups, consisting of representatives from each target group, who will work together during the first year to develop methods and approaches for the training measures.
Internal training effort:
The staff working at RFSL Förbundet, RFSL Stockholm and RFSL Ungdom will undergo internal training in the fall of 2014 on various disabilities to increase knowledge, skills and create more accessible activities. Lecturers and trainers will be hired from various organizations and activities within the disability movement.
