Relocation of surgery affects HIV-positive men

 

HIV-positive men who have sex with other men are at significantly higher risk of anal cancer than the general population. Despite the fact that Stockholm accounts for a large majority of new cases, SKL has proposed to centralize surgery and treatment to other parts of the country. The proposal risks hitting an already at-risk group of cancer patients hard.

In response, several organizations (including Hiv-Sverige, RFSU, RFSL, RFSL Stockholm and Noaks Ark) and doctors have signed an opinion piece in Today's Society.
