RFSL Stockholm proudly presents the winners of our annual awards Regnbågspriset, Den rosa tisteln and Gamla hjältars pris.
The Rainbow Prize (formerly the Golden Lambda) recognizes individuals or organizations that have made important contributions to the LGBTQ community over the past year.
This year's recipients of the Rainbow Award are Sofia B. Karlsson.
Why we like it: For her persistent and courageous work for inclusion in sport.
Through her book “Stand up when the wind blows” and her long and solid work to break norms, Sofia has made important efforts to ensure that LGBTQ people can be a natural part of the sports world.
Pink thistles (formerly the Homophobia Award) in turn recognizes individuals or organizations that have made counterproductive contributions to the LGBTQ community.
This year's recipients of the Pink Thistle are The police authority.
Motivation: For their decision to allow the Nordic Resistance Movement to demonstrate and hold a book table outside RFSL's premises at Södertorg during the Almedalen Week in Visby. It is important that we have a strongly protected and constitutional freedom of expression and assembly, but it must not be the case that the Nazis' right takes precedence over all others. The police's task is not to make room for Nazis in such a way that the ability of other groups to safely organize is limited.
Old Heroes Award is awarded to a person who has made important contributions to the LGBTQ community in Sweden in the past.
This year's recipients of the Old Heroes Award are Eva Bohlin.
Motivation: For her important work through the Lesbian Front. For daring to be open about who and what she was in the school world and in an interview in the paperback magazine R 1976, which was read by many LGBTQ people in all corners of Sweden at the time. And for her important work in the corridors of Parliament during a burning HIV/AIDS epidemic.
The Rainbow Prize, the Pink Thistle and the Old Heroes Prize are awarded at Main stage in Pride Park at 19:00 on August 1.
