During RFSL's congress, which took place October 23-31, a new board was elected and Trifa Shakely was elected as the new president of RFSL. RFSL Stockholm's President Lovise Brade welcomes the new Board and President: “I and the Stockholm delegation are happy that RFSL is getting this new start and hopefully the whole movement can now look forward together and move forward with our important work.” At the congress, RFSL Stockholm's own Peter Sidlund Ponkala was also elected vice president and many important decisions regarding policy and direction for RFSL's diverse activities were made.
Trifa Shakely is 45 years old, trained as a lawyer and social worker and is based in the feminist anti-racist movement. She was one of the founders of the Gothenburg Rights Center, has worked at the Red Cross and as a business developer in issues of domestic violence. She has also been editor-in-chief of Bang and a writer for Arena, Expressen kultur and GT.
