RFSL Stockholm seminars at Pride House

It's almost time for Stockholm Pride! Here is a list of the seminars we are holding during Pride week, when they take place and what they are about!

The city of my dreams
RFSL Stockholm asks the political parties' LGBTQ networks/associations about their dream scenarios for Stockholm. Break up with what? Saying yes to what? What specifically would need to be added, removed, changed to make life easier and better for the city's many LGBTQ people of all ages? Describe your rainbow dreams if you had the power to influence municipal decisions unhindered!

Up for grabs - one year after the elections
RFSL Stockholm puts the responsible politicians in the city council against the wall: One year after the election, has life become easier and better for the city's many LGBTQ people of all ages? What are you doing now and what is planned for next year? How do you know you are doing the right things? Monitoring, statistics and research? Priorities?

Time to end LGBTQ ignorance in LSS services and disability organizations
A panel discussion with LSS staff and representatives from two disability organizations where we discuss the need to increase LGBTQ competence within these activities and organizations. The participants have all been involved in the Funkis project reference groups. Starting in September, the Funkis Project will offer free norm-critical training focusing on the rights of LGBTQ people for LSS activities and various disability organizations across the country. What does the need look like? What do the panelists hope will change after the trainings? Why is it important for LSS staff to have LGBTQ competences? How do LGBTQ people see involvement in disability organizations? Co-organized by RFSL and RFSL Stockholm

There are no stupid sex questions, only very stupid answers
Question: ”I had sex with my fiancée's father once, should I tell you?” Answer: ”Yes, honesty is the best policy.” No, you shouldn't. Because it's not relevant to your relationship now. We rarely agree with the answers sexologists give in the sex and relationship columns of newspapers. Often the answers are completely stupid! The successful trio Nicklas Dennermalm, Malinda Flodman and Suzann Larsdotter, who have previously given Pride House program items such as Snuskbingo and Fistar fina flickor fitta, have dug into the archives and found good questions that have received stupid answers. Come in time, it usually gets full.

Presentation of the project Children of our time
We invite children in rainbow families, their parents and other important adults to a presentation of the project Children of our time: The project Children of our time has existed since 2014 and is run by RFSL Stockholm. We work with the target group of LGBTQ people who are or want to become parents. Among other things, we have developed the website hbtqfamiljer.se. During this item we will present the project and what we have come up with so far. We will also talk together about what issues you need to raise in the future.

Try hanging out for those who live in group homes or work in daily activities
This fall, RFSL Funkisprojektet will start social meeting places at RFSL Huset in Stockholm. The meeting places are for those who receive rights through LSS, live in group housing and work in daily activities. Those who come are homosexual, bisexual, transgender or queer or are just curious about it. At the meetings we will meet each other, have coffee and talk about love, sexuality and crafts. Or watch movies or maybe sing karaoke. We decide it together. The first meeting is in October. But now during Pride you can come and hang out with us. If you have a companion or assistant, they are of course welcome too. Read more about the Funkis project at www.funkisprojektet.se no registration required open to those who feel attracted by the description. We offer coffee and make pins. You are welcome to join us!

Norm-critical treatment <3 elderly care?
In Sweden, norm-critical perspectives as an entry point for anti-discrimination work have been developed primarily in relation to the target group of children and young people; youth organizations, schools and preschools. But what about in relation to older adults with care needs? In 2013, the National Board of Health and Welfare reported that training in aging and LGBT perspectives is almost non-existent in Sweden's municipalities, and there is no norm-critical methodological material that includes elderly care as a specific context. In this panel discussion, researchers and education developers discuss what characterizes older LGBTQ people's living conditions and experiences of the heteronorm, and how this creates the conditions for norm-critical educational strategies in care and elderly care.

The hidden gay in Stockholm
Vulnerability to violence from someone within the family is higher among young LGBTQI people than other young people . They can be exposed to honor-related violence and oppression because of their sexuality , gender expression or their norm breaking behavior. They can be subjected to forced marriages as a way to control and prevent the young people to live out their sexuality or gender identity and expression. The main idea of the seminar is to speak about young LGBTQI persons that are living discreetly for fear of family pressure and hate. Also to send and open letter, a message to parents who are denying their children, by means of pressure, threat and violence, the rights to be who they want to be regarding sexual orientation and gender identity and gender expression - A message to uplift all LGBTQI people to be proud of who they are.

Participants:
Tijan Kandeh, board member RFSL Stockholm, RFSL Newcomers member Aron Oliver, RFSL Newcomers member Joseph Saidy, Robert Hannah, member of parliament, law degree
