Transgender people are among the most visible and vulnerable members of the LGBT community and safety is almost a luxury. Many of the countries that the Swedish Migration Agency considers safe are far from safe for transgender people. This particular vulnerability must now be recognized by Swedish authorities. RFSL Stockholm's Board recognizes the need to highlight the special vulnerability of transgender people in migration processes.

On the board of RFSL Stockholm, Suma Abdelsamie (Abdelsamie Hossameldine), an elected member of the association as a deputy, has worked tirelessly for the organization RFSL Newcomers Stockholm and for LGBTQ asylum seekers to receive shelter and support. RFSL Newcomers Stockholm has recently been awarded the Nelson Mandela Prize by the City of Stockholm. Suma has in a short time become indispensable to the organization as a powerful fighter for human rights. After her asylum application was rejected, Suma's safety is threatened. RFSL Stockholm's board supports Suma Abdelsamie and other LGBTQ refugees and demands a stop to deportations of trans refugees and that Suma Abdelsamie should be allowed to stay!
