DU runs the project Praline in preschool and we are now looking for x number of texts about discriminatory norms related to preschool. We lack stories that make visible how children are affected by discriminatory norms. Therefore, we now want to find texts that convey knowledge about discrimination, power and norms that children are exposed to. We hope that they will be able to make visible how children can be affected by violations linked to societal norms, as well as give an aha feeling to those who lack knowledge / understanding of the various grounds for discrimination.
The idea is that they will be published in our upcoming methodological material and used as a basis for discussion for preschool staff to talk about and reflect on discrimination in the world of preschool.
The texts may therefore be linked to early childhood education, restrictive norms and/or discrimination faced by children.
Framework of the mission
YOU will buy a maximum of 10 texts, 7 texts related to the grounds of discrimination (ethnicity, disability, gender, gender identity and expression, sexuality, religion and/or belief, age), and 2 additional texts on restrictive norms (i.e. without a specific link to a specific ground of discrimination, such as body size or class background).
The texts we are looking for should
- be between 1- maximum 2 A4 pages
- have an accessible language (i.e. a language that is not academic or difficult)
- highlighting unequal norms linked to at least one ground of discrimination or other area linked to restrictive norms
The texts can
- be written in fiction, autobiographical, reportage, serial or poetry form
- may be linked to several interacting discriminatory norms or power systems
- provide clear examples of privilege and discrimination

Ethnicity/whiteness norm/racism

Gender / sexism
Gender identity and expression / cissexism

Sexuality / heteronormativity / heterosexism

Selection
DU reserves the right to choose between the texts submitted.
The texts will be anonymized in the selection process and assessed against the following criteria:
- easily accessible
- clear
- inspiring
- norm-critical
- intersectional
It is possible for a writer to submit several texts.
When publishing, the author can choose to remain anonymous, write under a pseudonym or use their own name.

For selected texts, a fee of SEK 5,000 (incl. VAT) per text is paid and the writer thereby transfers the right to publish and use the text to DU.
Reimbursement is paid after invoicing. If you don't have your own company, it's a good idea to use a company that invoices for you (google).
