Over the years, RFSL Stockholm has awarded prizes to people and organizations that have been significant in increasing the rights of LGBTI people in Sweden and in Stockholm, and at the same time, recognized those who have done the opposite.
Since 1978, we have therefore awarded the Pink Thistle (formerly the Homophobia Prize) to those who have opposed LGBTI rights, and the Rainbow Prize (formerly the Golden Lambda) to those who have worked for greater rights.
In 2013, RFSL Stockholm also introduced two new awards: the Old Heroes Award and the Enthusiast of the Year Award, which are given to people whose long-term efforts have meant a lot to the LGBTI community and to volunteers within RFSL Stockholm, for their hard work within the organization.
The Rainbow Award, the Pink Thistle Award and the Old Heroes Award are presented during the opening of Stockholm Pride. The Enthusiast of the Year award is presented during the winter party.
